Yes, anyone can create a website, it is not as hard as you may think and it will not take a long period of time to get done. If you can't afford to pay for a professional to create your own website, there are other options you may not have considered. Most people today that have a PC (personal computer) at home today also have some sort of 'office' program, either from Microsoft or some other company of the same level. You may even want to take advantage of the offers from the big search engines themselves, such a Google's new page creator. These programs come with additional programs that make life easier, such as Word, Publisher, PowerPoint to name a few. Many people often use its 'website' function as their first tool to create a website.
You just have to try the different internet marketing tools and select the one you feel is best suited for your level of expertise. You can always at a later time, use one of the others and even a 'stand alone' program of some sort to make your website better, if desired. There is nothing wrong with any of the mentioned programs.
We know the search engines like to re-visit your site and check for changes in order to have the latest changes you have made to your site. There will be changes over the course of time such as additional links, pictures and text. I too go through this and get tired of having the same old page jump up at me when I go to my site. If you are like most of us, you visit your site much more than anyone else. You like to check things like your 'hits', 'page views', and links.
This is where having an advanced editing program (NVU, Kompozer, Dreamweaver or Frontpage) comes in very handy or having a working knowledge of html code as you will need one of them to get your 'meta tags' in place. Do you have to do this? No, you do not, but if you do not then you may never get listed with some of the better engines since the 'robots' they send to check out your site for listing may not find the information they require.
The key to any website when creating it is to detach yourself and think about what others will like or think about what they see when the visit your site. Don't become overly concerned and get your site up as soon as you can. I, like many of you, love to 'do things myself' and currently use NVU for my website creation and up-dating.
Once your done, you will face another challenge and that is 'up-loading' it to your domain for the rest of the world to view. There are several ways you can do this, however, the best way is to use a FTP program like FileZilla or Core. Here's a great site for tips on creating a website The Site Wizard. The bottom line is to get your site up as soon as you can and start making money with it if that is what you desire.
Creating a website for free is a simple task that can bring in excellent income. Most people know having a website means the potential of extra income, however, many people simply do not have enough money to have a website designed. I'm going to show you how to create a website for free! It is important for you to view other websites to see what works and use the same technique in your free website. OK! Let’s create your own website for free!
Things you will need:
- NVU (Easy to Use Free HTML Editor)
- Aweber (One of the best Auto Responders)
- Kiosk (Dependable and resonable Web Hosting)
- Filezilla (Free FTP up loader)
- Name Cheap (Inexpensive Domain Names)
NVU works like FrontPage. Now that you have NVU, let’s create a website! When you download NVU will be able to save the NVU Help Guide which will answer all your questions.
Background and Page Setup
First, using NVU, let’s create your own website background. At the top of NVU, next to the Paragraph Headings under the Publish Button, you will see two boxes. One is for text coloring and the one behind it is for the sheet coloring. Choose which color you want your free website background then click OK.
Next using NVU, lets create a website template. At the top of NVU you will find Table, click on it. NVU lets you choose multiple cells, but I usually choose one cell. It's a little easier to manage and NVU has a better option. So, let’s click one box.
As you can see, your free website page is the same color as your background. To change this, simply double click inside your table, click on Table, click the gray box next to Background Color, and choose the color you want. Click Apply then OK.
If you want to get rid of the border around your free website page simply double click on your page, click on table, and zero out border, spacing, and padding. Click Apply and OK. NVU gives you a red dotted line to show the table’s parameter. This is an invisible table!
Next using NVU, you're going to want to center your free website page. Double click in the page, click on Table, and find Table Alignment and scroll down to Center. Click Apply and OK. To increase the size of your free website table simply hover over the white box on either side of you page and enlarge.
NVU uses a circle that has an X inside of it and an arrow on both sides. The circle, if clicked, will delete that website table and the arrows create another table that is connected to the main one. This is why I'd rather not choose more then one cell that was talked about previously.
Template Setup
Now, let’s set up a template inside your free website page. To get your cursor in the top left corner of your website page double click, look for Content Alignment, next to Vertical, scroll down to Top, click Apply and OK.
Next using NVU, right click on your free website page, scroll down to Table Insert, click on table and your new table will appear. In order to customize repeat all the steps above.
Video Setup
Now by using NVU, let’s say you want to host a video from You Tube on your free website. Grab the code from the video, create an invisible table, put your cursor inside the table, go to Insert at the top of NVU, scroll down to HTML, a new NVU window will pop up and place the code there. You can't see your video and that is why you want to create an invisible table. Unlike FrontPage, NVU does not have the feather for you to see it in the preview page.
If you want to write something on the side of your video, using NVU, click on the arrow of your tables parameter and a new table will connect to your video table.
There you have it. A new template for your new and free website using NVU! You can start creating your website content. It is a good idea to save your free website template for future use. You also want to save your free website as an index.html.
Uploading your Website
Now, NVU makes uploading your free website to your free web hosting site very simple. All you have to do is click Publish at the top of NVU, plug in the appropriate information and click Publish. NVU will send your free website to your web hosing site. I actually use Filezilla because it is easy to work with.
When uploading your free website don't forget to follow the instructions of your web hosting site. I spent two hours trying to upload my free website before I figured out what was wrong!
As you can see, NVU is a great way to create your free website. NVU gives you a lot more options then what I have spoke about. You should always test to see if your free website is working properly. One other source I use for point-and-click webpage design is Design Dashboard.
Set It Up
Whether your site has a catalog of products or a collection of articles, you can design your pages to allow visitors to post reviews of whatever is featured on the page. They can share their experiences with items they've bought or post comments on the information in your site. Don't confuse this powerful tool with a discussion forum. You create the topic of each page, and encourage visitors to post updates with the latest information in this area.
The more information you provide on your site, the better service you are providing to your visitors; but they aren't the only ones who benefit from including reviews. It's also a boon to you as a webmaster. Even if you never wrote another line of new copy, your pages will continue to grow with relevant content. Granted you still have to spend a little time reading the reviews and moderating what appears on your site, but the time required is much less than you would spend writing original content.
You can draw even more traffic by allowing visitors to rate the usefulness of each review. Many reviewers will encourage people to visit your site so they can read and rate the review. More important than just being a gimmick to increase traffic, rating reviews allows you to sort them by quality and expose your average visitors to the best possible content first.
If you have a newsletter, promote the review process in your next issue. In fact, as you begin to accumulate reviews, they can serve as great additional content for your newsletter.
